My wife and I had appointments with Dr. Broyles last Thursday at 5:00 and 5:30. We were both driving from San Diego, and the traffic was terrible. About 10 minutes prior to 5, my wife called to tell the front desk that we were still 6-7 miles away, the traffic was terrible and that we would be a little late.
I arrived at 5:15, and was told that they would have to cancel one of our appointments. I had them cancel mine since I have a more flexible schedule. I waited for my wife who showed up just prior to 5:30 and told her of the cancellation. She was slightly frustrated as she works in the healthcare field and sees this happen frequently. When you do have the courtesy to call, most health care facilities will cut you a little sack - particularly since they are almost always running behind schedule themselves.
Well, it was after 6:00 when my wife was finally called back. So when did it become OK for them to make us wait 30 minutes, but cancel our appointment for being 15 minutes late. On top of that, my appointment was schedule for the next day, but NOT with Dr. Broyles, which was our only request.
