My experience with Penfield Service Center really began on Friday in the afternoon. I was scrolling through Facebook on my phone and passed an ad that showed they were offering tire rotation/oil change/fluid top off & more for $24.99. I was about 4800 miles since my last change so I snapped a screenshot of it and planned to stop by sometime in the next couple of days. The only thing that bothered me was that it said I needed to print out the coupon, and seeing as I don't have a printer that is always an annoying step of online coupons. The next morning I was passing through Fairfield on my way home and decided to stop in and give it a shot anyway, maybe I would be able to hassle them into accepting the coupon. I parked, got out, put on my best "dont have time to print this out" face and prepared to argue. I presented my phone and asked if they would accept it, he took a look for two seconds and said sure. Immediately I liked this place. He took some info with probably the friendliest demeanor I have experienced in years while being amusing and efficient. On a Saturday morning. At 9 am. Yes, while I was dragging myself through the AM fantasizing about sleep, this guy was as upbeat as a guy working for a company that paid $500k/year and provided him a car, house, and supermodel wife. Here's a quick rundown of my last 3 oil changes: 1) At the dealer: $45, they say it'll take an hour, it always takes 90 minutes. Really boring, out of the way, and I always worry they'll forget me like they did that one time when they didn't start for two hours. They're friendly though. 2) This lame Valvoline place in Norwalk where they insisted I needed synthetic blend for my vehicle, and tacked on a $5 charge for something when I declined. Told me it'd be 10-15 minutes, it was about 20-25. Seemed accepting but slightly bothered by my existence 3) The Muffler and Brake place I live near that told me I require a "special" filter and that cost extra too. Estimated an hour, took around there, maybe a little more. Their mood, in a word, "meh" Now, the guys at Penfield said it'd be about 30 minutes, and since they were doing the rotation and other stuff that sounded pretty good to me. I went outside, grabbed my tablet and started watching a movie. Couldn't have been more than 25 minutes (probably 20) and they told me it was ready. Mentioned my front brakes could be done soon (75,000 miles on the car, and I'm not the gentlest driver) but didn't pressure me to do it at all. Signed here and there and I was off. To say the experience was merely good or great is an understatement. Between the coupon and the time estimation they understand the concept of providing a moderate expectation and exceeding it so thoroughly that I feel compelled to write a review, which is not something I usually do. Its very refreshing amongst a field of those who promise greatness and deliver mediocrity. It would be a dream if we could get these guys to become politicians. In conclusion, this is an amazing service center that I would and will recommend to everyone who needs mechanical assistance. Wonderful experience, 7/5 stars, couldn't be happier unless they stocked my trunk with hundred dollar bills.
