Triangle Asian Imports replied:

Mr. Watson,

The problem as identified at the time was a grinding noise heard from your brakes. There was surface contamination and corrosion found on the brake hardware, and lack of lubrication on the brake caliper slide pins; all of which could cause/ contribute to noise from the front end, as well as presenting a safety issue which Hyundai had issued a technical service bulletin (TSB) regarding proper brake service procedure recommendations.

The rust corrosion and dry caliper slide pins (actually binding at the time) found on your vehicle, not only produced an irritable sound, but would also cause the brake calipers to seize up and not release upon application, resulting in constant contact of the brake pads with the rotors, eventually burning them up.

Please keep in mind that we did not completely rule out the possibility of bad wheel bearing(s), as we can only pursue problems as identified. Additionally, bad wheel bearings could also cause premature brake wear or failure therefore, the brake service which we performed did not only eliminate the brake noise and resolve the corrosion and lubrication issue, but also acted as a precautionary step to prevent further, more major brake failure.

If you are still hearing noise from the front end, please do not hesitate to return for us to determine it's relativity and also to determine if the wheel bearings are producing any noise, now that the brake issue and noise has been resolved.

We do apologize if this confusion was due to miscommunication, as our only goal was to serve and help keep you from spending even more money on major repairs in the future by taking precautionary measures which was needed at the time as well as contributing to your initial concern. Please call or stop by at your earliest convenience so we can take care of you as soon as possible. We appreciate the time you took to give us your review, as it helps us to continue to serve you and others even better. And as always, we appreciate your business. Thank you
