As usual, Dr. Z and his staff were top-notch. It took less than 5 minutes to see the Doc once I arrived (bonus point for nearly zero lobby time!). His administrators are always friendly and accommodating (they kindly updated my home address, reprinted 2 receipts with the visit charges separate from the purchases and offered to send a postcard or text reminder for my next appointment.
One of the main reasons I've continued to see Dr. Z over the past 10 years is that he is genuinely interested in identifying the source of my discomfort and effectively addressing it in as few visits as possible. He'll discuss a home maintenance routine, from personal awareness, stretching, hot/cold applications to the trouble spot and perhaps a few NSAIDs along with rest and plenty of fluids. He's never suggested narcotics pain killers as part of my healing routine (which is not to say that he opposes them in traumatic injury cases), but his focus is always on restoration and recovery - not how many times he can convince us to come back for his services and get paid.
I've had those kinds of chiropractors - the ones that referred me to my Primary Doc for a prescription and then strung me along for weeks or months of adjustments that never seemed to have much effect until the last couple...hmmmm. Doctor Z will ask questions to pinpoint the event that caused the injury - not simply when I first started experiencing the discomfort and where it hurts now. What I thought was groin/hip pain sure to require months of therapy - or worse, surgery- was due to a misalignment in my sacral region and was the result of a fall some time earlier.
An evaluation Q&A, some physical assessment and two adjustments is all it took on his part to alleviate 7 months of pain (although Doc did lightly admonish me for neglecting to seek his advice / treatment sooner). Wow! Only 2 adjustments and I was on my way. I can again walk upright and well-postured; my rhomboids aren't in spasm, and it no longer hurts to get out of bed, up from a seat or into my car.
Dr. Z is the real deal and he wants to help you heal. I suggest you let him. You'll be back, but probably not soon.
