Unfortunately, my family & I will not be returning to your office.
When I was charged $75 on March 11th for Niko's previously missed appt I was shocked. After making some phone calls, this is significantly higher than what other offices are charging. Having said that, it is certainly your right to charge whatever amount you see necessary.
Please pass along my regrets to Dr. Krause as my entire family likes & respects him; however, with two working parents, four kids in school, four kids playing sports, practices, appointments, lessons...missed appointments or scheduling conflicts, although I believe to have been rare, are bound to occur. It's not to say I don't believe there should be a charge for a missed appointment, $75 is not something we can afford or are willing to pay.
Ronald T. Krause, D.D.S replied:
We have always enjoyed seeing you and your family in our office! Dr. Krause said he would miss chatting with you all and getting to know each of you better at your visits! We sincerely regret that you felt you needed to leave the practice due to a cancellation policy! Even though our office guidelines/fees regarding "No Show" appointments and last minute cancellations are always disclosed up front and reviewed by the patient/parent, we still make every possible effort, within reason, to be accommodating and sensitive to patients' busy lives, both in our scheduling and by making some allowances for those unexpected, last minute changes or forgotten appointments. As a courtesy to our patients, and to help them in managing busy schedules and multiple appointments like yours, our staff has always confirmed appointments with the patient in advance. Consequently, if a patient has NOT advised us that they are unable to keep their appointments, we assume they intend to be here. Again, while we do try to make some allowances for these situations within reason, eventually the standard cancellation fee will be charged to remind the patient of the importance of the time that has been reserved. You may feel that this cancellation fee is unusually high, however, it in no way comes close to the cost of the lost appointment time and more importantly, the inability for Dr. Krause or his hygienists to see other patients that may be waiting for available appointment time. Your feedback is appreciated as it reminds us of the importance of always striving to improve the way we serve all of our patients! We would always welcome a more personal conversation with you, if you wish, to go over your particular situation.
Kind regards to you and your family and best wishes for an excellent dental relationship and care in the future!
