I particularly appreciate the detailed, step-by-step explanation of the cleaning and examination procedure. The new technology utilized really gives one a clear view of ones dental health. The friendly staff and relaxed manner in which they relate to their patients goes a long way to relieve any anxieties. Thank you.

Kudos to Dr. Ellis and her team. Patient education and comfort are their top priority as everything is thoroughly explained before and during procedures. They even give you a warm towel for wiping your face like you would get in first class.

Your location was easy to find for out of town clients. Loved the staff and how friendly and professional they presented themselves. The staff showed genuine concern for my health and explained matters and procedures in a way that could be understood.

While I do appreciate that all aspects of the medical world undergo changes and advancements, I wish that less time would have been taken pushing these optional treatments and more time taken to actually clean my teeth. I was in the chair for 2 hours and only 5 teeth were partially cleaned at a cost of $165. Add in xrays, exam and as I said the partial cleaning of 5 teeth for my husband and myself came to over $600. I'm afraid to ask the cost to clean the rest of my teeth! I would strongly suggest that you ask people first if they are interested in hearing about new technology or if they would prefer to have their teeth cleaned first as that was the purpose of the appointment. While I appreciate the desire to help people with their oral health, sometimes too much is just too much. Having people sign a waiver stating that it's not your fault if their teeth fall out because you tried to get them to go ahead with optional treatments, not appropriate. Asking more than once when you can book the patient in for all the optional treatments ($11,000 in my case????), not appropriate. Reception smiling at me and saying nothing when I expressed that my husband (it was his first visit) was not impressed at all, not appropriate. My husband says he will never return. I may return but only after I investigate what the cost to finish cleaning my teeth will be and only after I have compared pricing at other offices. It is unfortunate that this visit was so negative as I have always appreciated the way I have been treated by Dr. Ellis and my hygienist Wendy. To the two of you I still give an A+ for chairside manner. I hope you take some of my comments in to consideration in the future.

Riverbend Dental Centre replied:

We appreciate your honesty about your perception of the appointment. When a patient returns to us after several years for an exam and hygiene it is our responsibility to ensure they are informed about their oral health and on checking with Wendy, considerable time was spent on the exam with xrays, photos and discussion about your oral health. We pride ourselves on performing the five screenings, including the oral cancer screening, and yes, these do take time. She has recommended you return in 3 months for your next cleaning. She did complete a front lower quadrant of your mouth in the time remaining after your exam (10 teeth) and if you return regularly, the next appointment can be spent addressing the hygiene needs you mention for your entire mouth.

As for your comments about the new treatments and technology, we do take pride in patient education, but realize that not everyone prefers to take the time. We will note that for you for future visits.

Your husband?s experience was intended to take considerable time as he was a new patient to us. If we did not communicate that well enough, we apologize. We hope he might give us another chance to earn his respect for the services we want to provide. We will also note that he prefers to get in and out of the chair in a timely manner and if any treatment or comprehensive exam will take considerable time, we will inform him of that and let him choose the nature of his treatment schedule.

Firstly, let me say the 50.00 "Emergency" charge was totally unjustified. As far as I was concerned, they overbooked and realized they couldn't manage to fit me in until the next day after xray and diagnosing 2 fillings needed.

Returning the next day I was informed that I would need a root canal...first I heard of this...I replied telling them to extract the wisdom tooth...and fill the molar next to it. 430.00 to pull at tooth and 370.00 to fill another. This is hiway robbery. These crooks should be reported to the BBB for price gouging.

More yet...I have been pulling pieces of root out with my water pik at home since. Their dental chairs are the worst ...

We do appreciate constructive criticism in the hope that our patients will provide us good feedback to improve our service. A patient does pay for an emergency appointment, and typically our emergency exams are meant to diagnose the issues and get the patient painfree, not provide treatment, as this is a half hour reserved for short notice emergency patients. If you have any issues continuing as a result of your treatment, please contact our office directly.
