Metric Motors Inc. opened on Ludingtonville Road on April 1, 1980. After many years of working for area dealerships and working out of a barn in my parents backyard, I built a 2,000 square foot shop which included a spray booth for bodywork. We started by working mostly on Alfa Romeo's, due to my love of Italian cars. Business grew steadily through the many word-of-mouth referrals and before I knew it I was working on all makes and models. We became known to our neighbors as "the repair shop you could trust." I then had my brother as my right hand man and two full time technicians working with me. My wife joined the shop in 1989 as the business began to expand and together we worked to grow Metric Motors.
Through marketing and quality service we out grew the shop and parking lot in 1995 we opened our new 10,000 sq foot auto center. The new shop environment reflects and enhances our high standard of quality work which we are all about. My wife worked on bringing a more woman friendly feel to the waiting room. We did not want women to feel intimidated as they were at dealerships. We are commonly referred to by our customers as the dealer alternative and we pride ourselves in that. The Metric Motors crew has grown to 13 full time and 3 part time employees. Currently, there are 3 of us here that are related in some way, and some that have been with us for over 20 years. So, you see, this isn't just a business to us, it's personal. We've always considered the Metric Motors team part of our family and that is exactly what we will consider you, should you choose to allow us the privilege of serving you and to service your vehicle.

I'm sorry to say, the experience I had doesn't reflect what the owner wrote on his page. His shop may have been great in 1995 but it certainly is not now.
My car was towed there, they kept it 5 week, didn't fix it properly and gave it back to me with a different key and no remote. (And all muddy)
6 weeks after that, they gave me a replacement remote that couldn't be programmed for my car.
Finally, after 12 1/2 weeks of dealing with them and hearing one excuse after another, they sent me the right remote.
This was the worst experience of my 40 years of dealing with repair shops.

This place may have been good in 1995 but is sure is not now.

Metric Motors has serviced our cars for years now--It's a family dealership that makes me feel like I'm part of their family. They'll pick me up, drop me off, take the time to explain, print off old receipts I need, work me into the schedule when something breaks down, get money from the insurance company others say won't pay and somehow greet me with a smile after all that. In the summer I enjoy the beautiful flowers and the lovely matriarch who sprinkes her wit and wisdom like the water which nourishes her garden to those of us who seek her out while we await service completion. Don't know how I got this survey but happy to respond about Metric Motors :)

I have nothing but good things to say about Metric Motors. The staff is very friendly everytime I need anything. They are always willing to help me and work on my car the day I come in. Overall, Metric Motors does great work, in a small amount of time, and a very reasonable price.

appt. went fine intill end. 1., was asked to pay inadvance for a 2 hour dental cleaning 6 weeks away, and also , for the 2nd time, asked to speak to the person in charge of finance and billing, to talk about the over 10k of work I have schedule within the next year, and still no phone, 2 days later. Very upset by this. If the Dentist is doing my work, and is part of of PUtnam Dental, why cant he make decisions and negotiate with his patients when it comes to large work being done and price. Starting to feel like Putnam Dental is only company and money driven, and not customer driven. I will be rethinking continuing with such a unbendable company. On a side note, this has no reflection on your employees, they are all very polite, and helpfull, but can tell they have there hands tied as well as the Dentist when it comes to prices and such.
