When car came in the concern was the car would not stop until brake pedal was pushed almost all the way to floor. When we got in car it would not start until the battery was jumped. After the car was running we noticed it ran extremely bad. Check engine light was on so scanned system for codes, found 5 codes all relating to engine timing and 4 codes for engine misfires. started with checking oil and found no oil on dipstick, added 2 quarts of oil to get level to register on the dip stick. With low oil in the engine it will not have proper oil pressure to keep the oil driven timing chain tensioners tight, this will let the chains skip timing. This means the Crankshaft and Camshafts were not in proper timing with each other. Next hooked up a vacuum gauge to the engine and found low vacuum. Because of the low vacuum the brakes are not working properly and the engine has to be fixed before brakes will work properly. In this instance adding the oil did not make any running or vacuum difference. This shows the damage from being ran low on oil has already been done and the engine has skipped timing.
Called the customers Aftermarket Extended Warranty and they told us we need to get authorization from the customer to remove the timing covers to access the timing chains to inspect for alignment and other potential problems. The reason we had to get customers authorization is if we took it apart and found something wrong that they would not cover, it would be the responsibility of the customer to pay for the tear down. After the tear down the Extended Warranty would send a inspector to our shop and look. Also we were told that when the inspector arrived he would need to see all the oil change receipts for the life of the car.
The customer declined the tear down and said there car was still under the Factory Power train Warranty. The problem is there are no Suzuki Dealers in our area. The customer said they called Louisville, Ky and there was a Dealer that could still work on them under factory warranty. The customer came to our shop with a trailer and towed the car to Louisville, Ky to the dealer to see about factory warranty coverage. The Dealers checking process for the issue could have been much less of a diagnosis and tear down than the Aftermarket Extended Warranty wanted us to do.

We recommend a Fuel Induction Cleaning every 15,000 miles. This is actually a Air Induction Cleaning were we remove the air intake off the car and clean the Throttle body blade of oil residue and carbon build up so it will properly open and close and not cause a hard brake pedal or fast idle. We also clean the mass air flow sensor of debris not captured by the air filter that can cause the car to not idle properly.
So we call it a Fuel Induction Cleaning but we are cleaning the intake side. This will also help with fuel mileage.
