I am quite displeased that the first time we board our dog, despite being vaccinated for kennel cough, he contracted kennel cough. Now I am spending sleepless nights listening to my pet sound like he is going to cough his insides up and feeling helpless to do anything about it.
Thank you for your feedback. When your dog stayed with us we were dealing with a current outbreak of Kennel Cough. We contacted you immediately letting you know he had contracted Kennel Cough during his stay. We have learned that most vet offices and boarding facilities in the area have been affected by Kennel Cough. We are taking every extra precaution we can take, at our facility, to try to prevent further spread. We have canceled all Yuppy Puppy Play Times, we have had called all clients that have dogs currently boarding with us and all clients that will being dropping off on or before the 17th. We have let the owners know and have given them the option to come and pick up their boarder or to cancel their future reservation. So far- no one has done either. We have posted a sign at our front desk to make everyone coming in the hospital aware, we have educational materials for our clients and if any dog begins coughing while boarding with us they are immediately placed in quarantine as well as any other dogs that are in their ward. We have taken every extra measure we can to clean and sanitize not just the boarding area but the entire hospital. We are not doing any laundry from the boarding area at the hospital, instead we have opted to send it all to be laundered. For any boarder that has contracted Kennel Cough during their stay here we are providing an exam at NO COST and we are only charging for the medication. We know this is upsetting for our clients and not easy for our patients, but please know we are doing everything possible to try to contain the situation. We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you but we hope it does ease your apprehensions of using our boarding facility in the future knowing it is a wide spread outbreak, and not solely an outbreak at Huffard Animal Hospital.
