Everyone was very polite and professional. I appreciated the lightness of the office and cleanlyness of the bathroom as I was there with my 2 yr old daughter.
Did not have a good experience this time at the shop. Took my car in for brakes, radiator flush, oil change and tire rotation. Told the receptionist the best number to call was my home phone. My cell was off on charge and that is the number that got called by the time I seen it the shop was closed. Picked my car up the next day and found it to be driving sluggish. Got home approximately 4 miles from the shop and there was smoke coming off the front brakes. Took it back to the shop to be looked at. Got a call later telling me that the front brakes were locked up. Then I was told there would be no labor charge to replace the front brakes that had just been put on. Another $300.00 for something that was defect related or mechanic error which should have been found in the test drive after the work was performed. I had to argue that it was Fox Run Auto's fault in which I felt I was being taken advantage of. The brakes got replaced with no charge. 2 days later the "check coolant" light comes on. Took it back in to find out that the coolant level was low. Not real happy with the way I was treated and will not be back!
Rob, that was an unfortunate experience all around. We performed a front brake pad and rotor replacement based on the visual inspection of evenly worn front brakes. During a normal brake job, the calipers are removed and the caliper pistons are pushed back into the bore to allow installation of the new brake pads. The pistons pushed in normally, and there was no indication of caliper slide issues. The brake job was completed and the car was road tested 5 miles with no problems. When you brought the vehicle back I personally verified your complaint and the vehicle was brought back in immediately. We also provided you with a loaner vehicle to minimize the inconvenience. Inspection found that the calipers were frozen and the pistons would now not return into the bore. This was not the fault of Fox Run Automotive. My offer was to replace the pads and rotors free of charge, as well as not charging you any labor for the replacement of the failed calipers. Rather than get into a confrontation when you decided it was our fault, the calipers were also replaced free of charge, even though I maintain that the caliper failure was not a mechanical error on our part, just a failed component in a car that is 11 years old. I am sorry about using the wrong phone number. I am sorry that the cooling system service required a return visit. Occasionally flushing the cooling system will introduce an air pocket into the system that will "burp" itself out and require a small amount of coolant to be added. We have a long history of services for all of your vehicles, and it is unfortunate that you have chosen not to return and to disregard all the positive experiences you have had. Thank you for your business and if you choose to return to Fox Run Automotive, we will strive to ensure that your experience is positive. Thank you for the feedback.
