First of all, let me say, don't ever procrastinate on getting dental work done. I cracked my tooth a while ago and due to a horrific previous dental experience I vowed I would never go back to a dentist if I didn't have too. (Big mistake) Well, I can't tell you how long I went with this cracked tooth but nonetheless it started causing problems this past weekend. Starting on Thursday with minor irritation (nothing that OraGel can't fix, right?) to Friday and the rest of the weekend to pain that was damn near intolerable. By Sunday my neck was swollen, hadn't eaten in days and all I could do was pray to get to Monday so I can be free of pain. When I walked into the office not only was I in pain, but it was clear that anxiety was setting in quickly. The receptionist was beyond awesome and confirmed that I would be well taken care bc Dr. Izzy was amazing. . She could tell with the tears in my eyes that I was scared and nervous. She continuously assured me that I would be okay while I patiently waited to be called (wasn't long at all).
Not only was the environment so relaxed and chill, nothing was going to be able to calm my nerves at this point. I was in full panic mode! Dr. Izzy introduced himself...could tell rather quickly that I was having an anxiety attack. He assured me that I would be okay and that he wouldn't do anything without telling me first. He expressed also that in order to do his job perfectly I had to calm down and trust. (That was my problem in general or I would have been to the dentist) Dr. Izzy looked at my tooth, discussed options, recommendations and more. I chose to go with a root canal (which is the horrific scenario from a previous dentist), my nerves were still bad at this point bc all I could think of was if I feel anything at all, this is a wrap!! Well, I'm terrified of needles, so Dr. Izzy recommended to try to cover my eyes and hopefully that would help me relax and again assured me he wouldn't do anything without me not knowing. AMAZING!!!! It worked, who would have ever thought.....I remained as calm as possible, trusted him and didn't see a thing!! Root canal was nerve racking only bc of my nerves but it went effortlessly and YES, I remained blindfolded the entire time and it was awesome. Dr. Izzy fixed my issue and I was on my way pain free, fear conquered and able to somewhat smile (I was swollen still)....but knowing that I'd be able to finally sleep and soon eat.
I've never felt so well taken care of from the receptionist, nurses to Dr. Izzy. I would recommend Dr. Izzy to ANYONE no matter what the problem is. And if you fear dentists...he will change your mind. Needless to say, I have another appointment in a week and a half that I was glad to make for the first time in a LONG time!! Dr Izzy.....you and your team ROCK!!!!!
