I am not the easiest client to work with, or impress. It is not that I am intentionally difficult. I just don't have a solid idea of what I want. Instead, I will tell you a little of what I don't like, and add in a bit of what I do like. Kate took those disjointed, and wildly different clues, and described a more cohesive vision, marrying all the key elements of my requirements. Even better, she delivered it in a way that exceeded my expectations. Since my long time colorist left the business to pursue another field, I have been wandering through the salons of northwest Houston, and even some of the cities I travel to for my job, looking for someone with his talent and creative streak. Kate is definitely that person.
I thoroughly enjoyed the subtle luxuries that Alan Murphy Salons incorporates into the services. I am a busy person, and I hate sitting in a chair for more than a couple of hours, particularly in a crowded salon where the temperature can best be described as either Arctic or tropical. This salon is comfortable and relaxing. Some of your competitors have packed their stations in like airplane seats. If I am going to sit that closely to someone for two hours, I should be on vacation at the end of the period of confinement.
Customer service is also important to me. Your receptionists are gracious and well mannered, rather than the edgy, sarcastic, hipsters one encounters at comparable salons. I noted, with surprise, a positive attitude in spite of the fact I was booking last minute. The young lady who took my call was accommodating and professional. She perfectly evaluated the time needed to accomplish my request, and scheduled accordingly. Your staff also did a great job encouraging me to prebook my next appointment. It wasn't a hard sell, but a convenience they were offering. I felt like I was at a resort spa, rather than a salon.
I will be back, and I am bringing my friends. Don't worry, most of them will bring a picture, or define their wants more clearly!
