Thanks for the opportunity to provide a review. The salon is beautiful. When I walked in, it felt like a true Aveda experience. Stephen was very nice, professional, and competent. He did a good job on my hair. My only complaint -- and it's a big one (and not his fault at all) -- is that the salon doesn't use Aveda color. It uses Wella color. As someone who has gone to Aveda salons in other states for almost 10 years, I was very disappointed that I would have to use a different formula for my highlights and lowlights -- including bleach for my highlights. Aveda's "enlightener" is much more gentle than bleach and doesn't cause ashy or brassy color. He ended up not needing to use a toner to even out the color (thank goodness), but that was the original plan as we were talking through what he was going to do. I have never been to an Aveda salon and had to have toner applied. The Aveda color is just better quality. If Shear Style would start using Aveda color, I would be a very regular customer. My color is fine; I can live with it for a couple months, but I can definitely tell the difference in the highlights. I would have preferred my tried and true formula. Overall, it was a good experience and it's a great salon.
