Everyone was very nice. Although the quality of results is so up and down. I realize the students are just learning but the instructors maybe need to pay more attention. I went in for a touch up. My hair was a medium blonde, I came out brown. I go every 6 weeks so there would be little root touch up. The girl put so much color on, it looks like I had a full color change to brown!

I was in for color retouch on October 6th.

The student was George.

I had the worst experience since 2008.

George only cares about how much money he will make when he is finished with school.

George doesn't know how to dry hair, flat iron or curl hair.

I don't ever want George again

I have been going to Aveda for nearly a year now. I love the time they take to listen and they also give great advice for new styles, cuts, etc. I've never been disappointed. And the Blue Room...that is my favorite!! I go every five weeks for my hair but I really think of it as a spa day, too. I'm so glad my friend recommended it to me; now I tell all of my friends to try it as well.

My advice (as a former university professor), please be patient with the student stylists. Just relax and enjoy the time. You will be pleased with the professional service, the special pampering you receive and the fabulous results, every time!

I've been coming to Aveda school for 8 to 10 years. My appt Monday was disappointing, the foils were left on too long and resulted in over processing and a choppy drastic color look. I asked for a toner which removed the color and made my hair a golden blonde, not the ash color I like. I recommend the instructor keep closer watch on the customer so the foils aren't left on too long. Since I have had the same application for so long, this could have been avoided.

It was a wonderful experience. Jax, my stylist, listened to what I wanted and spent time to make sure the color and cut was simply perfect. She was such a pleasure with her genuine smile and professional attention to detail. It was clear from the start that she loves what she does and takes great pride in her work. The educators that worked with Jax were patient and very interested in making sure the visit was enjoyable.

I've been an avid fan of AFI Indy since it opened and have always recommended it to friends, coworkers and even strangers! The services are stellar, you know the products are quality and the price is right!

But... honestly I've been sadly disappointed this year. I've had a few things done - I typically visit for a haircut and one of the reasons I come is because of the neck and shoulder massage. I always ask specifically for a scalp massage because I suffer from terrible migraines and (in the past) a visit to AFI has been a surefire way to prevent them. I've also always been willing to pay extra for the additional time if necessary. For my last three visits the massage wasn't offered or the student spent a very short, very inattentive time doing it. One of these services was a perm. Now I know that the the neck/shoulder massage isn't offered in this case however; the student didn't offer to do the arm/hand thing either. And the perm - what a mess. Literally and figuratively. She SOAKED me to the bone, ruined the shirt I was wearing completely, gave me a chemical burn, chattered on the entire time she and another student were rolling about how she hated perms because she didn't like to wait... and then the perm fell out in less than three weeks. Honestly the chemical burn took longer to heal. For $60+ this was SUCH a disappointment.

This visit was followed by another visit wherein the instructor didn't seem to really hear what I wanted, took over from the student and basically gave me this Keith Partridge looking style that's an absolute nightmare and will take forever to grow out. She kept telling me that I couldn't have the cut I was asking for- I kept trying to explain that I'd had my hair cut that way throughout high school... so I know that I could, I knew that's what I wanted, etc.

I'd give 3.5 stars if I could because I think these bad experiences were due to people, not the school itself, but that's not an option. And prior to this year I'd say flat out 5 stars. But I've been bummed and frankly reluctant to return because it's a 40 minute drive for me to end up leaving frustrated. Additionally, it would be nice if patrons were given their form to fill out on their way up to the checkout desk. I always try to write something resume applicable on my form, especially when the service was great or the student took extra time to establish what I was looking for or understand my needs. But it's difficult to provide constructive feedback with the recipient staring down at me while I write or reading the paper on our way up for payment.
